For the first time, a unique “mitzvah project” opportunity, the “Red Bag of Courage,” is being offered to students and groups by American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA). |
AFMDA is the authorized fundraising and advocacy organization in the US supporting the lifesaving efforts of Magen David Adom (MDA) in Israel, which provides Israel’s pre-hospital emergency medical needs including disaster, ambulance and blood services. The Red Bag is a replica of the paramedic’s kit which is used by all MDA volunteer “first responders” when racing to the scene of a medical emergency.
Participants of this exciting new program raise $1,000 – which is the price of a fully outfitted red first responder’s bag filled with emergency equipment such as bandages, oxygen and inhalation masks, respiratory apparatus, blood pressure meter, needles and syringes, blood transfusion kits and more. As a special thank you from AFMDA, donors will receive their own monogrammed RED BAG. |

Students and groups can use their own resourcefulness to raise the money. They can allocate a portion of their bar/bat mitzvah gift money or find creative ways to raise money such as walk-a-thons, bike-a-thons, car washes, bake sales, babysitting service, making and selling crafts, yard sales, etc. They can also send out emails and letters to their friends and relatives. |
