A Double Mitzvah for Blood Donations

Posted By : Leah Breevoort November 10, 2014

On Sunday, November 2, 2014, Great Neck Synagogue partnered with the New York Blood Center for their annual blood drive done in memory of Rebbetzin Elaine Wolf z”l. However this year people’s blood donations were saving lives in more ways than one. At the “Double Mitzvah Blood Drive” every unit of blood was matched with a donation from Great Neck Synagogue to American Friends of Magen David Adom. Even though a storm the night before left the building powerless for the first three hours, more than 100 people came out to the event. Their generous donations will not only save lives in America, but they’ll also support Magen David Adom’s lifesaving efforts in Israel, including being responsible for 100% of the blood for the IDF and 97% of the blood for Israeli hospitals.
