The American Friends of MDA sends ambulances and intensive care vehicles for use by Magen David Adom rescue service in treating the wounded.
Eleven mobile intensive care units and six ambulances donated by AFMDA will arrive in Israel this weekend. The ambulances and vehicles left the factory in Elkhart, Indiana, and will be put on four direct flights from New York. After a quick preparation, they will be immediately delivered to MDA teams.
The ambulances and intensive care vehicles will join MDA’s current rescue vehicle fleet — 1,400 MDA ambulances and MICUs (some bulletproof) — across the country currently working at peak alert.
In late September, MDA announced an emergency campaign for 300 new ambulances to add to its current fleet in response to growing concerns about the security of Israel’s northern border and the fear it could lead to an armed conflict. The campaign’s aim was to triple the number of ambulances the national emergency response organization usually adds to its fleet annually.
“I thank our dear donors in the United States, for their willingness to help Magen David Adom, especially these days while the State of Israel is facing difficult challenges and we are in great need of this assistance,” said MDA director-general Eli Bin.
“I call on our friends in the world to make great efforts and help Magen David Adom in purchasing additional ambulances and intensive care vehicles, which we need very much to help the IDF and all the residents of the State of Israel,” he said.
