Ziv Watkin, a 61-year-old resident of Ma’ale Adumim, collapsed and lost consciousness on Saturday. Magen David Adom received a call to its 101 hotline and while the caller received guidance from the MDA dispatcher, a rapid response team arrived on both Medicycle and in private cars.
MDA administered life-saving electric shocks with a defibrillator until Watkin’s heartbeat restarted before evacuating him to Hadassah-Mount Scopus Hospital.
After Watkin recovered and returned home from the hospital, he was excited to meet MDA’s rapid response team and thank them for saving his life.
“Meeting Ziv standing on his feet with his family is very moving,” said MDA EMT Issachar Einhorn, who was part of MDA’s rapid response team that treated Watkin. “It’s a privilege to save lives.”
