The MDA Wish Ambulance helped make a seriously injured reservist’s dream come true.

Shlomo, a former MDA volunteer, enlisted in the IDF reserves after October 7, despite receiving an exemption. Three weeks ago, he was injured while serving in the Gaza Strip. Luckily, thanks to his MDA training, he was able to guide the soldiers on how to treat him in the field before he was airlifted to a hospital to begin his lengthy rehabilitation process.

While recovering in the hospital, he heard his battalion was getting together for a reunion. He wanted to attend despite his injuries, so he contacted MDA’s Wish Ambulance program for help. The Wish Ambulance is an MDA initiative aimed at fulfilling the wishes of people with serious illnesses who have lost mobility.

MDA got special permission to take Shlomo out of the hospital and make his wish come true by bringing him to the reunion and celebrate with his fellow reservists.

“Shlomo had a smile on his face the whole evening, as did we,” recalled Shay Shpak, a paramedic and member of the MDA Wish Ambulance team. “We are always happy to make wishes come true for anyone who needs it and we will continue to do it as much as possible.”
