Magen David Adom volunteer medic Rabbi Yitschak Tsayger, 57, was a victim of a terror attack at a gas station in Eli in the Binyamin Region on Thursday. Rabbi Tsayger was a volunteer EMT in Psagot where he lived.

A father of three and grandfather of two, Rabbi Tsayger was an active member of the IDF reserves up until the end. He volunteered for reserve duty and returned from Gaza two weeks ago. He also volunteered with the police and other community organizations. Rabbi Tsayger was shot while filling his car with gas. Rabbi Tsayger managed to return fire and a civilian neutralized the terrorist. A 16-year-old young man named Uria Hartum was also killed. The shooting occurred in the same place as a deadly terrorist attack that took place in June.

“We searched the scene, reached the injured people, and immediately began a medical assessment on both males, who were not breathing and had no pulse,” remarked MDA paramedic Shmuel Reines. “After a short time, we had to pronounce them deceased. This is a very difficult terror attack.”
