Immediately following calls to its 101-emergency hotline, Magen David Adom dispatched a large number of forces to the site of a shooting terror attack at the central bus station in Be’er Sheva. Ambulances, MICUs, and EMTs on Medicycles arrived quickly on the scene to provide medical care to the injured and evacuate them to the hospital.
MDA paramedics fought for the life of a 25-year-old woman, and after resuscitation efforts, they were forced to pronounce her dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as Sergeant Shira Suslik, 19, a border police officer from Be’er Sheva.
MDA EMTs and paramedics provided medical treatment and evacuated 10 people who were injured in the attacks to Soroka Hospital including a female in her 20s in serious condition, four injured people in their 20s in moderate condition, and five people with mild glass shrapnel injuries. Additionally, three other individuals suffering from shock were evacuated by MDA teams.
MDA EMT and phlebotomist Yevgeny Finkelstein was first at the scene since he happened to be at the station to conduct a blood drive. “I was there to conduct a blood drive taking place at the bus station. Suddenly, I received a call from the MDA dispatch reporting an injured person from the attack. I ran to her and treated her; then we were told there were other casualties, so we ran into the station and began treatment.”
“There was major chaos at the scene when we arrived, with injured individuals entering shops. During a search by MDA teams, we saw several other injured; all were fully conscious and suffering from injuries,” said MDA paramedic Boris Mento. “We provided them treatment that included stopping bleeding and administering pain relief and transported them by MICU to hospitals in stable condition.”
