Magen David Adom dispatched teams on ambulances, Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs), and Medicycles to the scene of a shooting terror attack on Highway 4 near the Yavne interchange heading south.
MDA EMTs and paramedics provided medical treatment to two injured people and brought them to Assuta Hospital in Ashdod. A man in his 30s, who was identified as First Sergeant Adir Kadosh by The Times of Israel, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“We arrived at the scene in large numbers, saw a man in his 30s on the side of the road, unconscious, without pulse or breathing, with gunshot wounds to his body,” said MDA EMT Avner Ben David. “We began resuscitation efforts, evacuated him to the hospital in a MICU while continuing resuscitation efforts, fighting for his life. His condition was critical.”
A 42-year-old man whose car windows shattered due to gunfire was able to continue driving to the Nitzanim junction where he met MDA teams. He was evacuated to the hospital in moderate condition with injuries from glass shards to his upper body. Another 42-year-old man was evacuated to Kaplan Hospital in moderate condition with a gunshot wound to his lower body.
Gad Timsit, a MDA volunteer who happened to be at the scene noticed what was happening and shot the terrorist.
“I was driving and noticed a person with a weapon standing on the road,” the MDA volunteer reported. “At first, I thought he was a police officer, then shots were fired at me. I ducked, jumped out my car, drew my gun, and shot him. I feel like I fulfilled my civic duty.”
During the incident, a 53-year-old man who stopped to assist was also lightly injured by a vehicle.
