While medically securing a rare delegation of senior Syrian Druze clerics, Magen David Adom teams saved the life of a 57-year-old visitor who suffered cardiac arrest.
Thousands of visitors from the Druze community in Israel and from abroad have visited the tomb of Jethro in Kfar Zeitim in the lower Galilee in honor of the holiday of Ziyara. MDA teams are accompanying a delegation of senior members of the Syrian Druze community to the site to be able to provide quick and efficient medical response. This is the second delegation of Druze Syrians to visit Israel in recent months and MDA teams have accompanied both.
After the man collapsed at the tomb, the MDA medics accompanying the group immediately began performing advanced CPR, administered an electric shock, and successfully restored his pulse. They transported him, fully conscious, to Baruch Padeh Medical Center, Poriya, in Tiberias.
“MDA teams, many of whom are volunteers from the Druze community, acted with dedication and professionalism,” remarked director-general Eli Bin. “This is exactly the mission of our organization and we will continue to be wherever a fast, high-quality, lifesaving medical response is needed.”
Bin continued, “I would like to wish our brothers in the Druze community, led by Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, a happy holiday.”
