After a fire broke out at an apartment building in Jaffa, a Magen David Adom team was dispatched to provide medical treatment and transport a person who was suffering from smoke inhalation.

After they helped their human patient, the medics encountered a feline patient in need of medical assistance. While searching the building, firefighters found a cat who was lying unconscious in an apartment that had burned in the fire.

The firefighters transferred the soot-covered cat to the care of medics Simcha Simandoyev, Yosef Kurdi, and Mark Siddikin who immediately recognized that the cat had inhaled a lot of smoke in the fire, and they administered oxygen. Once the cat regained consciousness and was meowing again, they transported him to a veterinary hospital for further treatment.

“If we have the opportunity to save a life, we will always take it,” reflected paramedic Simandoyev, “even when it comes to an animal.”
