Magen David Adom led the lifesaving efforts in rescuing dozens of babies from a daycare center in Jerusalem. MDA EMTs and paramedics transported 55 infants and toddlers, two of whom in critical condition, to local hospitals including Shaare Zedek Medical Center, and Hadassah University Hospital in Mount Scopus and Ein Kerem.
“This was a difficult incident,” remarked paramedic Nadav Tayeb and EMT Yair Aba Shaul,” both of whom were at the scene.
While MDA medics were attempting to resuscitate one of the infants, an additional Mobile Intensive Care Unit was dispatched to the daycare to help the other unconscious infant who was sleeping in the same room. The two infants in critical condition, later identified as Leah Goloventzitz, four months old, and Aharon Katz, six months old, were pronounced dead. Their cause of death remains undetermined.
