The morning of October 7, Peter Lesnik Korobov, an EMT and ambulance driver and Dani Shtarkman, a paramedic, began driving their mobile intensive care unit from the MDA Ofakim station to help five people who had been shot by Hamas terrorists.
When Korobov and Shtarkman approached the Urim intersection, Hamas terrorists on motorcycles appeared in front of the ambulance and shot Korobov while he was driving.
Shtarkman stopped Korobov’s bleeding, treated the wound, and took over driving the ambulance to bring Korobov to Soroka Hospital for treatment.
Three days later, Korobov’s wife delivered their first daughter, Mi El. “If it wasn’t for Dani’s resourcefulness,” said Korobov, “I wouldn’t be here today and my children wouldn’t have a father.”
