Israel’s Channel 12 featured a group of American medics who came to volunteer at Magen David Adom’s new satellite station in Ashkelon. They came via a partnership between MDA and Hatzolah of New York.
One volunteer, Shiu Reichman, jumped at the opportunity to volunteer in Israel. He has been member of Hatzolah in New York for 41 years and said that it’s a big zechut or privilege for him to be there.
Paramedic Moshe Schwartz has been volunteering with MDA since a week after the attacks. “The common theme for all of us [volunteers] was, ‘we came here, we thought we were giving chizzuk (strength) to the people that are here that are affected, and it’s the other way around,” Schwartz remarked. “We are getting a lot more than what we came to give.”
