After suffering cardiac arrest and collapsing at his hair salon, barber Kiko Mizrahi met with the MDA team who saved his life.

One afternoon, barber Kiko Mizrahi, 50, was closing up his hair salon in Bat Yam for the day. Mizrahi was in the salon with his friend finishing up his work when suddenly, he felt severe chest pains and collapsed on the floor. He had gone into cardiac arrest.
Mizrahi’s friend called Magen David Adom and while sending expert care to the salon, the dispatcher instructed him on how to perform basic resuscitation on Mizrahi over the phone.
A few minutes later, MDA paramedic Daniel Giat arrived at the salon and continued advanced resuscitation while administering an electric shock from a defibrillator. Thankfully, Mizrahi began to regain consciousness during the CPR. Soon, a MDA intensive care team arrived, and after examining Mizrahi, transported him to the hospital fully conscious.
“I never thought I’d ever finish a day of work like this,” mused Mizrahi who has fully recovered. MDA’s quick and professional attention allowed him to return to work as a barber.
At a reunion at his hair salon, Mizrahi had the chance to thank the MDA team who saved his life.
“Your response was quick and this is unequivocally what saved me, from the telephone instructions from MDA’s call center on how to perform CPR until the intensive care unit that arrived to evacuate me,” said Mizrahi.
“Thank you for acting quickly to get my heart beating again.”
