The Ben Simon family is a warrior family. The family of five, including three adult children, all work in different essential Israeli agencies, including Magen David Adom, the police force, and the IDF, that keep Israel safe. Hailing from Hatzor Haglilit in the north of Israel, all of the Ben Simons have rallied to support the country’s war effort.
Members of the inspiring Ben-Simon family appeared in their respective organization’s uniform in a recent interview with Eli Rochlin of Israel’s Channel 13.
Orly Ben-Simon, the family matriarch, is a paramedic with MDA’s Kiryat Shmona station. Her husband Yair, a former MDA volunteer, is a detective with the Israeli police force. Their daughter Moran, who previously volunteered with MDA, is currently a corporal in the border police, their other daughter Rotem is serving in the reserves of the IDF, and their son Tomer is a Golani reservist.

On the morning of October 7, all of the members of the Ben-Simon family received messages on their beepers and phones alerting them that there was a disaster in the south. MDA told Orly to be on high alert, Yair, Moran, Tomer, and Rotem received emergency call-up messages.
In the television interview, Orly described how the family decompresses by doing a lot of sports together. They also discuss current events and vent to each other.
Yair said that in between assignments, the Ben Simons check in on the family WhatsApp group to see where everyone is: “We communicate to reassure ourselves.”
