Magen David Adom is widely known as one of the world’s premier paramedic organizations. However, to the people of Kiryat Motzkin, the city just north of Haifa, it’s now also the name of their town square after the municipality named it in honor of the organization for its work fighting coronavirus.

Dignitaries at the dedication of Kiryat Motzkin’s new Magen David Adom Square, including MDA Director-General Eli Bin, City Mayor Haim Tzuri, MDA Carmel Region Director Erez Geller, and Israel Deputy Health Minister Yoav Kisch.

“MDA is an organization that’s fighting [coronavirus] at the front…during this challenging time and the most severe health crisis the country has seen,” Haim Tzuri, the mayor of Kiryat Motzkin, said during a dedication ceremony at the square. “For this, the organization, its employees, and its volunteers deserve immense appreciation.”

“As someone who is involved in the management of the health system in the State of Israel, MDA’s contribution to the fight against coronavirus and its dedication to the health of the citizens of the State of Israel is something that is difficult to describe,” said Knesset Member Yoav Kisch, who also serves as Israel’s deputy health minister. “…If there is one organization in the State of Israel that needs to take on special missions, I know I can trust Magen David Adom.”

The square is located near MDA’s emergency medical station in the city, the second largest in the Carmel Region after Haifa.
