In anticipation of the return of 20 living hostages to Israel, Magen David Adom has deployed EMTs and paramedics in ambulances and mobile intensive care units to provide medical cover for their arrival and the accompanying events. Working with IDF medical forces and the Ministry of Health to support the hostage release, MDA teams have been briefed, are fully prepared, and are assisting wherever needed.
For the past two years, MDA has also provided medical cover at Hostage Square in Tel Aviv.
“These are historic and emotional days, as the hostages we have longed to see return for the past two years are finally coming home,” remarked Eli Bin, director-general of MDA. “Our teams are ready and prepared to provide an immediate response if needed.”
The bodies of two MDA volunteers who were killed by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, Ronen Engel and Lior Rudaif, remain held in Gaza.
