On October 7, Arab and Jewish Israelis came together to save lives in Rahat, a Bedouin community in southern Israel that suffered heavy missile attacks and terrorist gunfire.
Anis Abu Dabas, Malek Abu Arara, and Dvir Ben Ze’ev tell their story of heroism, courage, and the kind of friendship that only grows stronger when times are hard.
At one point during that distressing day, when they were helping countless Israelis amidst constant gunfire and rockets, Ben Ze’ev and Abu Arara were sent to treat a civilian who had been shot in the head. They recently found out that he opened his eyes after five days in the hospital.
“The most encouraging thing in that situation was the optimism on October 7 when everything was black,” remarks Ze’ev in the video, “that came from the people wearing these uniforms.”
