Eight days after assisting a woman in giving birth to a baby boy at the entrance of Hadassah Hospital, Magen David Adom medics joyfully attended the infant’s brit millah.
MDA paramedics Moshe Benita and Barak Ford, EMT Israel Neumann, and paramedic-in-training Shira Bell were called to the Mahane Yehuda neighborhood in central Jerusalem to assist a woman in labor. The team saw that she was close to delivering and transported her to Hadassah University Hospital – Ein Kerem in Jerusalem. However, the woman did not make it inside; she delivered the baby inside the MICU in the hospital parking lot.
After baby Netanel was born, the MDA team was invited to the infant’s ritual circumcision. “We were very excited to the meet the family,” said Benita and Neumann. “We often deal with difficult events in our work so it’s especially exciting to participate in the beginning of a life.”
“We couldn’t have asked for a better team than this,” reflected the new parents. “We thank the good emissaries of the Almighty; they were very supportive of us and acted sensitively and professionally. They were the Almighty’s messengers.”
