A delegation of approximately 60 clerics from the Syrian Druze religious community visited holy sites in Israel in an historic vistit. Magen David Adom EMTs and paramedics of Druze background accompanied the Syrian delegation throughout the pilgrimage to ensure the clerics were in good health. It was the first time a Syrian group could visit Israel in decades.
The Syrian Druze group’s visit began with a speech by Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif in Julis and continued with a visit to the graves of Druze clerics and the tomb of Jethro. It ended with the inauguration ceremony of two houses of prayer in Pek’in in the Upper Galilee. Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif thanked MDA director-general Eli Bin at the end of the visit.
