Magen Project expands to Druze community.

The spiritual leader of the Druze community of Israel met with officials from Magen David Adom to discuss incorporating Israel’s Druze community into MDA’s Magen Project.

At the meeting, MDA delivered medical equipment and designated funding to train members of the Druze community as first aid responders.

The group discussed training new MDA volunteers, deploying defibrillators in public spaces in Druze communities, and paramedic courses for military draft exemptions as part of the National Service Paramedics Course.

The Magen Project trains citizens throughout Israel to provide initial medical response in emergency scenarios such as earthquakes, darkness, extreme weather, and war. Community Emergency Response Teams were established in areas where the threat is most imminent, including cities in the North threatened by Hezbollah attacks, Gaza Border communities, and towns in Judea and Samaria.

Sheikh Muafek Tati, the Druze spiritual leader, attended the meeting with MDA Deputy Community Director Dr. Eli Yaffe, MDA Regional Director Eli Peretz, MDA Executive Committee member Haim Dagan, and donors Michaela Berko, Ron Zuckerman, and Ofer Kerzner. Dana Dudu Madanes, the director of the municipal department in the local government center, provided preliminary information on the community’s specific needs.

“The connection between MDA and Druze society is close and long-standing,” remarked MDA Director-General Eli Bin. “I thank Sheikh Muafek Tarif for supporting this important project designed to deepen life-saving activities in all Druze communities in cooperation with the community.”
