American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) is proud to partner with Jewish federations around the country to support Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service and representative to the International Red Cross.
A world leader in mass-casualty response and EMS technology, MDA treats and transports nearly 1 million people to hospitals every year; collects, tests, and distributes blood to the IDF and Israel’s hospitals; and responds to disasters around the world. Like all Red Cross societies, MDA receives virtually no government funding for its daily operations.
AFMDA — MDA’s sole fundraising representative in the U.S. — is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and MDA’s largest charitable supporter, providing emergency vehicles, equipment, medical supplies, funding for capital projects, and more.

Community Ambulances: Sponsoring Life Support or Mobile Intensive Care Unit ambulances.
First 7 Minutes Training: A four-hour training that teaches communities within the U.S. what to do after a violent attack in the seven minutes it typically takes for medical services to arrive.
Overseas Volunteer Program: Young American adults spend six and a half weeks training and volunteering with MDA on ambulances.
Tzav HaSha’a (Hour of Need): A partnership with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee to assist Ukrainian asylum seekers who are not eligible for aliyah.
Ukraine Emergency Appeal: Supporting efforts to provide medical assistance and ambulances to Ukraine and assisting refugees in Israel.
